Curragh Camp Fire Brigade - Victorian era public domain image
Summary
Shiny and gleaming (new?) horse-drawn fire tender at the Curragh Camp, Co. Kildare. The men have FB, presumably for Fire Brigade, on their uniform collars and as an emblem on their gorgeously ornate helmets, and absolutely love the special belt holders for their fire axes...Thanks to Gerry Ward ( gerryward/ ) for help with the make of the fire engine! It's Shand, Mason & Co., London...Date: Circa 1902..NLI Ref.: EAS_2467 ( EAS_2467 )
Images from our photo collections that show those magnificent men (and women) in their flying, choo choo-ing, and driving machines... Oh, and we've cheated, we're adding boats and ships, jaunting cars and carriages, trams too and bicycles - we're completely shameless. So, basically any form of transport - air, sea, land - with the exception of two human feet...
