LAE, Papua New Guinea -- U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Rudy Huerta, a combat engineer with 7th Engineer Support Battalion, 1st Marine Logistics Group, paints a window frame of the Salvation Army School during Exercise Koa Moana 19 in Lae, Papua New Guinea, Sept. 30, 2019. Marines and sailors of Koa Moana spent the day painting the school building and making repairs to the nearby Jim Jacobsen Women’s Shelter. The Marines and sailors donated supplies at both the school and the women’s shelter, and female service members also spoke to victims of domestic abuse and human trafficking. Koa Moana serves as a joint training exercise between I Marine Expeditionary Force and the Papua New Guinea Defense Force to improve relationships and interoperability within the Indo-Pacific Region.
