SAN DIEGO (Nov. 05, 2012) Marine Brig. Gen. Daniel D. Yoo, Commanding General of the Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego and the Western Recruiting Region, slices the U.S. Marine Corps 237th birthday cake during a ceremony hosted at Naval Medical Center San Diego. A resolution was approved Nov. 10, 1775 that required two battalions of Marines who were able to fight for independence at sea and on shore, thus officially forming the Continental Marines.
