Riders and packhorses at Aurora Lake

Riders and packhorses at Aurora Lake, traveling along the western leg of the Wonderland route. The original around-the-mountain trail traversed this western section of the park at a low elevation, quite close to the park boundary. Subsequent realignments of the path brought visitors into the subalpine landscape of lakes, meadows, and the stunning vistas of Mount Rainier.
