Soldiers and civilians assigned to the U.S. Army Reserve Command headquarters at Fort Bragg, N.C. gathered together, April 20, 2016, to celebrate 108th anniversary of the of the U.S. Army Reserve. The U.S. Army Reserve was founded April 23, 1908, when Congress authorized the Army to establish a Medical Reserve Corps, the official predecessor of the U.S. Army Reserve. Over the years, U.S. Army Reserve Soldiers have participated in every major military campaign to include; World War I, World War II, Korean War, Cold War, Desert Shield/Desert Storm and the Global War on Terrorism. Today, approximately 200,000 U.S. Army Reserve Soldiers serve around the globe.
