The owner nearly lost her life when the storm surge from Hurricane Sandy swept through her home on Staten Island. the homeowner received disaster assistance from FEMA, which along with the state, local government and volunteer organizations, provides disaster assistance to disaster survivors of catastrophic events such as Hurricane Sandy.
