t is not satisfactory, it can beused as the basis of an interesting experiment. Clean the oldemulsion carefully from the screen, being careful not to scratchit in so doing, dry it and put to one side. Some fine day takethis screen and a panchromatic plate of the same size. Putthe panchromat in the holder, and put the screen in on topwith the screen next to the film of the plate. Reverse theground glass of your camera, put on a Dufay filter in front ofyour lens and give about the same exposure as an ordinaryDufay plate. Develop the panchromat plate, cutting down thetank time a little or using a smaller development factor, fix, wash and dry your plate. I do not believe there is any infringement of theDufay patent in using a waste screen in this way, as the plateswere at first made to be used with a separate plate. Person-ally, I have secured better results on the Dufay than on anyof the other color plates, both in transparency, and in the factof their standing the heat of a projection lantern better thanthe others. The colors I believe to be as true as those in the other plates, and they are simplicit
