U.S. Navy corpsman, HM3 Thomas Thiede, inserts a nasopharyngeal airway to show Marines and members of the Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force how to treat a patent airway on a conscious person Aug. 14, 2017 in Chitose, Japan. Service members learned Tactical Combat Casualty Care during Northern Viper 2017. Northern Viper maintains and strengthens the United States’ influence in the region and the U.S.-Japan Alliance.
