Water samples await laboratory testing at the Washington Aqueduct in the District of Columbia, Jan. 8, 2016. Maj. Richard E. Bratton III, Washington Aquedcut deputy general manager, is seen at left. The aqueduct team collects approximately 60,000 water samples annually to ensure the water meets EPA standards. The Washington Aqueduct is a drinking water wholesaler that produces an average of 155 million gallons of drinking water per day to the District of Columbia; Arlington County, Virginia; and the City of Falls Church, Virginia.
