Summary

Given all the war that had and was taking place around the time of this shot, peace was probably a more desirable experience than happiness. I hope the couple in this image had a long and peaceful marriage...Thanks to all for today's contributions, and especially sharon.corbet ( /photos/129555378@N07/ ) and guliolopez ( /photos/20727502@N00/ ) for the census and newspaper searches. The investigations suggests that those pictured include several members of the White family, and that the bridge and groom (centre and right foreground) may have been Elizabeth Ross (née White) and G.S. Ross (bank manager from Gort)...Great thanks to johnorrett ( /photos/139557453@N03/ ) who gives us the following:..George Steele Ross and Elizabeth White are my wife's grandparents. George was born in Killarney in 1876 and died in 1968, Elizabeth in 1964. The White's mother, Johanna Butler was born in India in 1852. Rita and Rose are indeed Mary and Margaret in the 1911 census. Rita is on the back left, with Joseph White, Rose White, Vincent White and the priest being the others...Photographer: A. H. Poole..Collection: Poole Photographic Studio ( http://catalogue.nli.ie/Search/Results?lookfor=A.H.+Poole&type=Author&sort=title&view=grid ) , Waterford..Date: 19 November 1919..NLI Ref: POOLEWP 2832a ( vtls000593357 ) ..You can also view this image, and many thousands of others, on the NLI’s catalogue at catalogue.nli.ie ( http://catalogue.nli.ie )
