The center conducts digs and other archaeological research, education and preservation programs, and partnerships with American Indians in the artifact-rich valleys and mesa tops of Montezuma County in the southwest corner of Colorado. These objects eventually are given to the Anasazi Heritage Center in Dolores, Colorado, which displays the culture and history of the Ancestral Pueblo people
