The decommissioning ceremony was held at her homeport of Pascagoula, in front of a crowd of almost 800 attendees, many who were plank owners (members present at the commissioning) and former crewmembers. The ship will be towed to the Inactive Ships Maintenance Facility (ISMF) at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (PA), where a final decision on the eventual disposition of the ship will be made
