Government workers union sponsors school in capital. Washington, D.C., Nov. 30. A school for government workers sponsored by the United Federal Workers of America, affiliate of the CIO, was inaugurated only two weeks ago but already the registration has increased 200 percent. A variety of courses are offered for which a tuition fee of $2.00 a course is charged to members in good standing of C.I.O. Unions. Non-members will be $2.50. Naturally, a class in Union Organization will be one of the principal courses. Miss Olivia Israli, instructor at the Federal Workers School, registering new students.

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. – The winning students and their teachers of the 2014 DuPont Challenge Science Essay Competition show off their awards after a ceremony at the Operations and Support Building II at Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Center Director Bob Cabana is in the middle. The challenge, now in its 28th year, reaches out to students from grades seven through 12 from all 50 states and Canada. More than 200,000 students entered the competition. The DuPont Challenge aims to inspire students to excel and achieve in scientific writing and pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics STEM. The challenge honors space shuttle Challenger's STS-51L crew members who gave their lives while furthering the cause of exploration and discovery. KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, FLA. - During the luncheon held at the 2004 Florida Regional FIRST competition at the University of Central Florida, Center Director Jim Kennedy praises the teamwork of the students involved. The event hosted 41 teams from Canada, Brazil, Great Britain and the United States. Florida Gov. Jeb Bush also spoke at the luncheon. FIRST is a nonprofit organization, For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology, that sponsors the event pitting gladiator robots against each other in an athletic-style competition. The FIRST robotics competition is designed to provide students with a hands-on, inside look at engineering and other professional careers, pairing high school students with engineer mentors and corporations.
