John Augustus Roebling - National Parks Gallery
Zusammenfassung
1847 wurde John Augustus Roebling, der zukünftige Konstrukteur der Brooklyn Bridge, beauftragt und begann mit dem Bau eines Aquädukts, das den Kanal über den Delaware River tragen sollte. Roebling war ein bahnbrechender Bauingenieur und Hersteller von "Drahtseilen". Er hatte sich beim Bau eines Aquädukts in Pittsburgh, PA, für den Pennsylvania Canal bewährt. Das Delaware Aquädukt wäre das erste von vier solchen Aquädukten, die Roebling für das D & H. baute.
