170128-N-ET194-022 CHINHAE, South Korea (Jan. 28, 2017) Seabees from Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 5, Marines from 9th Engineer Support Battalion, and Marines from the Republic of Korea use two Bridge Erection Boats to raft an Improved Ribbon Bridge (IRB) in open waters. NMCB 5 is the forward deployed Western Pacific NMCB ready to support Major Combat Operations, Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief operations, and to provide general engineering and civil support to Navy, Marine Corps, and joint operational forces. Homeported out of Port Hueneme, Calif., NMCB 5 has 12 detachment sites deployed throughout the United States and western Pacific area of operations.
