By process of elimination, looking at all Alans in the 2nd Pioneer regiment (colour patch on his arm signifys), this man was found. I also found photos of him on Ancestry to confirm. He was in a rifle club prior to the war, hence the sharpshooter badge above his stripes..His war records: .414984 ( 414984 ) ..(found on ebay)
