Capt. Sean Nolan (center), commander of Company C of the 1st Battalion, 17th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, communicates via radio during Operation Southern Strike II in Ganjitsu, Afghanistan, June 5, 2012. During the operation, Nolan served as the ground force commander for the components assisting the Afghan Border Police. The ABP-led operation focused on disrupting enemy formations in the vicinity of major passes, exploiting areas of interest as well as positive interactions with the local populous.
