Cpl. Derek C. Brisendine prepares detonation cord for explosives for tree demolition, July 25, 2016, on Motutapu Island, during a multi-national, bilateral exercise with U.S. Marines, Sailors and Tongan Soldiers. Assaultmen and combat engineers will work together to share demolition and explosive techniques, and infantrymen will conduct basic infantry and live-fire range training, with assistance from combat rubber raiding crafts to operationalize USNS Sacagawea (T-AKE 2), to increase interoperability and relations. Brisendine, from Eustis, Florida, is a combat engineer with Task Force Koa Moana, and is originally assigned to Company B, 9th Engineer Support Battalion, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, III Marine Expeditionary Force.
