Richard Rogers, center, and fellow officers pose for a group photo with Vietnamese military officials. USS Vandegrift (FFG 48) Arrived in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, today for a scheduled port visit. The port call will provide the crew with a chance for sightseeing and cultural exchanges. This visit marks the first U.S. Navy ship visit to Vietnam in 30 years, since 1973. It symbolizes the normalization of relations between our two nations. USS Vandegrift is an Oliver Hazard Perry Class Guided Missile Frigate and is a part of the Kitty Hawk Carrier Strike Group, forward deployed to Yokosuka, Japan.
