David Culpepper, speaks to them via teleconference phone call during a town hall meeting. Approximately 700 spouses and children were evacuated from the island to Naval Air Station Pensacola due to Hurricane Matthew. Matthew was a Category 4 hurricane with maximum sustained wind speeds of 145 mph and wind gusts of 170 mph when it made landfall on NS Guantanamo Bay.
