Jackson Lake Lodge - National Parks Gallery
Summary
Buck-and-rail fence
During the nineteenth century, pioneers in the Jackson Hole area built buck-and-rail fences for use in ranching. Over time, modern barbed wire fencing replaced most of these wooden fences at the area's ranches. The fencing style preserved at the Jackson Lake Lodge landscape is deeply rooted to the vernacular building traditions and historic land uses of the region, and and it also stand out for its contrast to the more modern features of the landscape.
