Katie Lewis, Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District,
Summary
Katie Lewis, Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District, Civil Engineer/Contracting Officer Representative, explains the purpose of the Katherine Street plantings on Nov. 5.
Work included the installation of approximately 1300 1-gallon shrubs and 20 1-gallon trees at the Submerged Aquatic Vegetation site in Buffalo, NY.
This is the first of three years that the contract is planting shrubs and trees. Katherine Street began last summer, but this is the first big task where the Buffalo District is not just physically shaping the Buffalo River shoreline but actually bringing new life to the area with native plants. The project is partnered with the EPA.
