description

Summary

The second Christmas-card. The original painting from which this lithograph was made is owned by the Chicago Art Institute. (Bellows) / The Bellows family's second Christmas card was based on a painting done in 1914, now in the collection of the Art Institute of Chicago. A well-dressed group is skating in a mountainous setting--the felicitous title, two signatures, and the greeting were written on the stone. the greeting were written on the stone. The first state, illustrated here, is the same as the one published in Emma Bellows' catalogue. Neither [first or second] state was recorded in the artist's notebook. (Mason)
