Travis Harlow, training officer aboard the guided-missile destroyer USS Chung-Hoon (DDG 93), explains his job responsibilities to senior leaders from the Vietnam People's Navy, Navy Region 3, on the bridge during a guided tour of the ship's critical spaces. Chung-Hoon and the Military Sealift Command rescue and salvage ship USNS Salvor (T ARS 52) are in Da Nang, Vietnam, for a naval exchange activity (NEA). The NEA provides opportunities for U.S. and Vietnamese naval professionals to share best practices and exchange maritime skills. Maritime skill exchanges between the two navies are non-combatant events, such as humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, medical training, fire fighting and damage control, search and rescue, diving and salvage, sports and community service projects.
