U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Luis A. Munoz Jr., rifleman, Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division (MARDIV), stands with Sgt. Jeffrey L. Anderson Jr., instructor team leader, Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center (MCMWTC), and a pack mule, after graduating as honor graduate of Animal Packer Course 3-15, MCMWTC, Bridgeport, Calif., Sept. 15, 2015. The course is designed to teach Marines the lost combat art of handling pack animals, transporting gear, supplies, and wounded across rugged terrain too difficult for aircraft or vehicles. Marines with 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division (MARDIV), participate in a month-long field exercise focusing on core mission essential tasks such as assault climbing, animal packing and small unit movements, to strengthen expeditionary high altitude warfare tactics in a mountainous environment against a hybrid threat, as they prepare for world-wide deployment.
