U.S. Marine Corps Maj. Gen. Daniel J. O'Donohue (left), Commanding General of 1st Marine Division receives a quilt from members of the Navajo Nation during a visit to Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., Sept. 28, 2015. The Navajo code talkers took part in every assault the U.S. Marines conducted in the Pacific from 1942 to 1945. They served in all six Marine divisions, Marine Raider Battalions and Marine parachute units, transmitting messages by telephone and radio in their native language that enemy forces were never able to break.
