U.S. Marines with Weapons Platoon, A Company, Infantry Training Battalion, School of Infantry-West, fire a 60mm mortar round from a handheld mortar tube during the Basic Mortarman Course at Range Mortar Position 6, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California, Oct. 4, 2018. The Marines were evaluated on the use and employment of the 60mm M224 mortar system. They must successfully qualify on the system before moving on to the 81mm M252 mortar system.
