"Peluse Falls" was painted circa 1854 by John Mix Stanley and was published in 1855 by Sarony, Major and Knapp in New York. In 1853, John Mix Stanley was employed as the artist for the Isaac I. Stevens expedition, one of the government surveys that searched for the best route for the transcontinental railroad.
