1. A Santa Fe Pleasure Dome (24622857141)

description

Summary

Roger Puta took these took photos in December 1971 in one of the six Santa Fe Pleasure Dome that ran on the Super Chief which was an all sleeper train. The Santa Fe was under contract to Amtrak to run the train. There are 7 photographs in this series.
The car was most probably in the AT&SF Chicago Coach Yard. The dome was off center on these cars and had single rotating seats on each side of the aisle as shown in Photo 1. There was a cocktail lounge below the dome.

This file comes from the Roger Puta collection, which passed to Mel Finzer. They were scanned and posted by Marty Bernard, are in the Public Domain. Attribution to "Roger Puta" is not required for a PD image, but should be done as a matter of courtesy to a major Commons contributor.
