150525-N-WE887-009 NEW YORK (May 25, 2015) - Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus and Pete Galasinao, President of Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Memorial Association placed the Soldiers' and Sailors' Memorial wreath at the portal of the monument on behalf of the city of New York during a Memorial Day Observance Ceremony at the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Memorial as a part of Fleet Week New York (FWNY). Fleet Week New York, now in its 27th year, is the city's time-honored celebration of the sea services. It is an unparalleled opportunity for the citizens of New York and the surrounding tri-state area to meet Sailors, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen, as well as witness firsthand the latest capabilities of today's maritime services.
