160309-N-RM689-034 SEA OF JAPAN (March 9, 2016)- Amphibious dock landing ship USS Ashland’s (LSD 48) Command Master Chief Gary Wise signs a command mentorship program after interviewing the mentor and mentee to make sure the partnership will be successful. Ashland is assigned to the Bonhomme Richard Expeditionary Strike Group and is participating in Ssang Yong 2016, a biennial combined amphibious exercise designed to strengthen interoperability and working relationships across a wide range of military operations from disaster relief to complex expeditionary operations.
