160317-N-GR718-027 EAST SEA (March 17, 2016) Chief Gas Turbine System Technician (Mechanical) Richard Watson awaits the signal to maneuver a landing craft air cushion (LCAC) from the well deck of amphibious transport dock ship USS New Orleans (LPD 18). USS New Orleans is assigned to the Boxer Amphibious Ready Group and is participating in Exercise Ssang Yong 2016. Ssang Yong is a biennial combined exercise conducted by forward deployed U.S. Forces with the Republic of Korea Navy and Marine Corps, Australian Army and Royal New Zealand Army Forces in order to strengthen our interoperability and working relationships across a wide range of military operations from disaster relief to complex expeditionary operations.
