170613-N-OU129-141 KADUWELLA, Sri Lanka (June 13, 2017) Chief Electricians Mate Steven Wills from the Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Lake Erie (CG 70) works with Sri Lankan Marines and Red Cross personnel to sanitize water wells in Kaduwella, Sri Lanka, June 13 during humanitarian assistance operations in the wake of severe flooding and landslides that devastated many regions of the country. Recent heavy rainfalls brought by a southwestern monsoon triggered flooding and landslides throughout the country, displacing thousands of people and causing significant damage to homes and buildings.
