OAK HARBOR, Wash. (Sept. 14, 2018) — Senior Chief Aviation Machinist's Mate Luis Ruiz, attached to Patrol Squadron (VP) 47, congratulates Chief Aircrewman (Operator) Douglas Blynn, attached to VP-47, after being promoted to chief petty officer (CPO) during the Naval Air Station Whidbey Island (NASWI) CPO pinning ceremony. The ceremony marks the first iteration of Sailor 360 and the culmination of a six-week long intense training cycle that has been built off of almost two and a half centuries of naval heritage and 125 years of CPO tradition. VP-47 flies the P-8A Poseidon, the Navy's premiere long-range anti-submarine warfare platform. The Golden Swordsmen have recently finished Homeland Defense and Rim of the Pacific exercise and is in preparation for an upcoming deployment.
