190723-M-QS181-1013 STRAIT OF HORMUZ (July 23, 2019) Marines assigned to the India Company, Battalion Landing Team 3/5, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), observes a vessel through binoculars while providing security aboard the amphibious dock landing ship USS Harpers Ferry (LSD 49) during a Strait of Hormuz transit. The Boxer Amphibious Ready Group and the 11th MEU are deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and the Pacific through the Western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.
