1st Lt. James Brown, of Binger, Okla., receives a Bronze Star medal from Col. Michael Kinnison, officer-in-charger of the 45th Infantry Brigade Combat Team demobilization, for exceptionally meritorious service in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from July 13, 2011 to March 6, 2012. Brown is a platoon leader for 3rd Platoon, Company A, 1st Battalion, 179th Infantry and has served with the Oklahoma Army National Guard since May 2010. He was one of more the 2,200 Oklahoma Army National Guard soldiers to serve in Afghanistan for the past eight months.
