The race is one of the oldest and most prestigious motorsport events in the world, first held in 1923. The race is organized by the Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO) and takes place on the Circuit de la Sarthe, a 13.6 km (8.5 mi) track that combines public roads with a purpose-built section. The race is run continuously over 24 hours, with teams of drivers taking turns to race their cars around the circuit. The aim of the race is to cover the greatest distance in 24 hours, with the winner being the team that completes the most laps. The race attracts some of the biggest names in motorsport and has seen many legendary drivers and cars compete over the years. The 24 Hours of Le Mans is part of the FIA World Endurance Championship and is one of the three races that make up the Triple Crown of Motorsport, along with the Indianapolis 500 and the Monaco Grand Prix. Winning all three races is considered one of the greatest achievements in motorsport.
