444th MPAD returns home
Summary
Maj. Jon Powers, commander, 444th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment, New Jersey Army National Guard is reunited with his family on Sept. 28, 2012. Several soldiers of the 444th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment were reunited with their families after a year-long deployment to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. The unit, which is comprised of writers, photographers, videographers and media-relations experts served as a key component of the Joint Task Force Guantanamo public affairs operation. The unit oversaw publication of The Wire, a print and online base news magazine, assisted civilian media covering military tribunals on the base and advised the command staff of public affairs implications of policy decisions.
