Garbutt barge c1955, Ontario, Canada
Summary
Fred Garbutt owned and operated a lodge on the Upper Mazinaw Lake called Popi Camp. He also was a contractor who built cottages on Mazinaw for various people. Since the east half of the lake is without road, he built the barge shown here to carry materials across the lake. ..It was constructed initially to build the Brumell cottage on the east side of the lake and was subsequently used to build several other cottages. It fell into the disrepair shown here toward the end of the 1950s.
