A Canadian bounds behind smoke concealment during the live-fire portion of a breaking contact and trench clearing exercise, April 19, at Adazi Military Base, Latvia. Latvian and U.S. soldiers also participated in the exercise as a part of Summer Shield XIII, a two-week long interoperability exercise. Soldiers assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Troop, 3rd Squadron, 2nd Cavalry Regiment in the region supporting Operation Atlantic Resolve joined allies from Latvia, Canada, Lithuania and Germany for the annual training event.
