A Colorful Sequence by Roger Puta -- 4 Photos (31956872576)

This is CN RS-3 3730 coming at you near Grand-Mère, Quebec in October 1981. The following comment is by kgmontreal, a member of Train Orders:

"Those 40' boxcars converted to woodchip cars were very common in Quebec, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Of course, the RS-18 units indicate that the photos were not taken in the western provinces. The train is westbound toward Shawinigan, QC from Garneau. The wye leads north to a mill in Grand Mère. The covered hoppers are for the Alcan aluminum smelter in Shawinigan. The photo was taken from the embankment at the CPR bridge to Grand-Mère over the CN mainline."
