he Mycenaean strongholds and a transformation in allspheres of Greek life. Chief among these invading tribeswere the Dorians, and their leaders were at the head ofaffairs in the centuries that followed. The seat of theirpower was the Peloponnesus, which henceforth becamefor a long time the centre of Greece. Similar migrationsand shiftings of population in the following centuriesthrew the rest of the eastern communities of Greece intoconfusion. The Mycenaean world of Asia Minor and theislands was also disturbed, though, of course, not in a likedegree. Many fled thither from before the intruders.In course of time the Dorians themselves settled upon thesouthern islands and the lower coasts of Asia Minor.The unity of the Mycenaean world was destroyed.
