description

Summary

Burke stands in profile to the right dressed as a Jesuit. He clasps to his breast a small female figure or doll, wearing a hat with a feather, perhaps intended to represent Little Red Riding Hood (see BMSat 6205); he is dressed as in that print. He is wearing spectacles and his wig appears beneath the biretta. His belt is inscribed "Friendship", through it, in place of the cross, is a dagger on which are letters. This is attached to a rosary made of guineas. 11 July 1783
