SAN DIEGO (Jul. 10, 2012) Navy Diver 1st Class Paul Averill, from St. Cloud, Minn., assigned to Southwest Regional Maintenance Center, attaches a line to a cofferdam next to the amphibious assault ship USS Boxer (LHD 4) before conducting hull maintenance. Southwest Regional Maintenance Center is the largest shore based intermediate maintenance activity and the second largest ship repair facility in the Southwestern United States, providing intermediate level maintenance support to more than 100 surface ships and submarines of the U.S. Pacific Fleet and U.S. Coast Guard.
