A New Veggie is Hatched (2758365897)
Summary
The thrill every morning now, even before coffee, is going out to the vegetable garden to see what is new. It's mid August, and things are just starting to go! My friend Rob at the Payson Nursery says that its better to start in August (not waste water in hot summer) and stuff grows through the late fall weather.
Today's find was the first whit eggplant. They are smaller than their purple cousins, but sure give a hint as to where the name came from. I may have picked this one early, but it was asking to be photographed.
Tomatoes are getting bigger, and judging from the size of the zucchini leaves, I'm due to be in an avalanche of green zonkers soon. Cucumbers are crawling their vines out, with some flower bud of promise. Green peppers are just tiny balls. And knowing when to pick carrots is a total guess work job.
