When refreshments were brought out, the welder and the Army Sergeant forgot all about the war and fighting and production, and embarked on a gossip session the likes of which you'll find in Iowa, Kentucky, Oregon or Vermont. As American as baseball, the Sunday afternoon visit is a friendly and democratic means of relaxation common to soldier, worker, bank president and school child alike.
