A recruit with Lima Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, descends from the Staiway to Heaven obstacle during Confidence Course II at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, May 14. The confidence course challenges recruits to face their fears and overcome them. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. Lima Company is scheduled to graduate July 12.
