ver pennies of thoreign of Robert Bruce and Alexander I., witha few of the reign of Edward I., coined inIreland, having the Irish harp. The wholewere wrapt up in a piece of skin, or lude, andwere in excellent preservation. The secondcollection was of a much later date, and con-sisted of 18 silver coins, somewhat larger thana shilling-piece, of the reigns of Elizabeth,James I., and Charles II.. with a Spanishdollar, dated 1633. These were found in a smallcows horn, dug up in a field at Holme Rot>c,Nairnshire. In August, 1864, while workmen wero en-gaged deepening the bed of the Iala, near theFree Church, Botriphnie, they came uponabout 200 coins, including one or two Frenchand Spanish, The greater numl>er belonged! tothe reigns of Charles I. and1 Charles II. ; thirtywere larger than crown pieces, and less than adozen were of copper, the remainder being ofi silver. Great interest was attached to thisfind, on account of part of the skeleton of aman being found along with the coins.
