About 70 Marines from Golf Co., 2nd Battalion, 2nd Marines challenged each other for the best completion time during a 10-mile hike Aug. 26 around Mihail Kogalniceanu Air Base, Romania. Marines wore improved plate carrier body armor and carried assault packs while walking, jogging and running to cross the finish line before their competitors. The event built camaraderie as Marines who finished first cheered on their teammates. Many Marines sprinted the final stretch in order to cut crucial seconds off of their finishing time.
