Afghan National Army medics with 2nd Brigade, 215th Corps, conduct a mass casualty drill March 26, here. The ANA medics, according to Petty Officer 1st Class Federico Sanchez, a Reno, Nev., native, are fully operational in terms of everyday medical basics, but are making their way to become fully operational in assessing urgent, priority and routine patients. Sanchez is the medical chief advisor with the Marine-led Security Force Assistance Advisor Team for 2nd Brigade. He said the ANA medics are doing well and are learning fast. The SFAAT arrived here in November to guide, advise and assist the ANA. The SFAAT team's goal is to get the ANA and other Afghan National Security Forces to operate on their own as the Coalition Force here takes a step back, moving from a "shoulder-to-shoulder" approach to "over-the-shoulder."
